AN ORDINANCE

an ordinance AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO INSTALL TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES on Browns mill ROAD SE FROM Macedonia ROAD SE to Cleveland AvenuE SE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, traffic and speeding on Browns Mill Road SE from Macedonia Road SE to Cleveland Avenue SE is a public safety hazard to residents in the area; and
WHEREAS, in the vicinity of Browns Mill Road SE from Macedonia Road SE to Cleveland Avenue SE lies Humphries Elementary School, churches, and a recreation center; and
WHEREAS, residents of the affected areas have regularly cited concerns around neighborhood safety due to excessive speeding by motorists; and
WHEREAS, the lack of speed calming devices has made conditions particularly hazardous for the residents of Browns Mill Road SE from Macedonia Road SE to Cleveland Avenue SE; and
WHEREAS, the installation of traffic calming devices on Browns Mill Road SE from Macedonia Road SE to Cleveland Avenue SE will significantly reduce the public safety hazard to all residents and those visiting the area.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA, HEREBY ORDAINS, as follows:
SECTION 1: That the Mayor, or his designee, is authorized to install traffic calming devices to install traffic calming devices on Browns Mill Road SE and Macedonia Road SE to Cleveland Avenue SE.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances in conflict are waived only to the extent of the conflict.
